Science: Our level 4 science course complements student’s prior information taught from levels 2 & 3. We will focus on reviewing previously covered science and social studies topics and identify how this material is found on practice HSE tests.

New physical science topics include chemical reactions, balancing of chemical equations, chemical bonding, the electromagnetic spectrum, and sound/ light waves. A comprehensive earth/ space science review focuses on the structure, composition, and atmosphere of the earth, as well as general knowledge of the universe. Biological skills are emphasized at the cellular level with further understandings of mitosis/ meiosis and diffusion/ osmosis.

Students will be able to apply their knowledge of science topics to multiple practice HSE tests, in addition to interpreting data and strengthening reading comprehension.

Social Studies:Our level 4 social studies course complements student’s prior information taught from levels 2 & 3. We will focus on reviewing previously covered science and social studies topics and identify how this material is found on practice HSE tests.

For the social studies course, we take a comprehensive look at world history topics including early civilizations, religions, and select empires/ societies/ powers. World Wars I & II and the post-war implications are also heavily discussed. American history is further introduced with a focus on the colonization of North America, the 13 colonies, and the American Revolution. Emphasis is also placed on the Civil War and Reconstruction Period following. Discussion on American involvement in world wars and foreign affairs, and we conclude with modern American concerns. Considerable emphasis is placed on reading comprehension from passages and political cartoons.

Students will be able to apply their knowledge of science and social studies topics to multiple practice HSE tests, in addition to interpreting data and strengthening reading comprehension.
