Science: Our level 3 science course furthers students’ knowledge on previous level 2 topics.
For the science course, life science (biology) focuses on the scientific method and basic biologic principles. Students will learn about the characteristics & classification of life, evolution, and the environment. The physical science component includes chemistry & physics and presents an introduction to the principles of atomic and molecular structure, matter, and the periodic table of elements. Additional topics focus on electrical and magnetic fields, electric circuits, and sound, light, and waves. Considerable emphasis is placed on reading comprehension from scientific passages and data interpretation.
This course also includes additional lessons on data analysis (graphs, tables, & charts) and mathematical probability and statistics.
Social Studies: Our level 3 social studies course furthers students’ knowledge on previous level 2 topics.
For the social studies course, we take a comprehensive look at world history types, including early civilizations, religions, and select empires and societies. World Wars I & II and the post-war implications are also heavily discussed. American history is further introduced with a focus on the colonization of North America, the 13 colonies, and the American Revolution. Emphasis is also placed on the Civil War and Reconstruction Period following. We continue to discuss American involvement in world wars and foreign affairs, and we conclude with modern American concerns. Considerable emphasis is placed on reading comprehension from passages and political cartoons.
